Overview

Relational Signal is an augmented reality experience that transforms physical space into a dynamic network of autonomous sound agents. Each agent generates, receives, and responds to signals based on its surroundings, creating evolving patterns of communication that emerge through movement, proximity, and interaction.

The Challenge

The project explored how invisible relationships could be made perceptible through sound and spatial interaction. A key challenge was designing a system that balanced autonomous behavior with meaningful user influence while maintaining clarity within a shared augmented environment.

What I Built

I designed and developed an AR system that combines autonomous agents, spatial audio synthesis, event-based communication, interaction memory, and channel-based world states. Users can physically move through space, discover hidden populations, and influence ongoing exchanges between sound-producing entities.
